What a gorgeous primitive wood wall box this is! Farm made in the 1800s, this wall box has a canted front and beautiful decorative touches including a primitive fleur de lis and a 3-dimensional button on the front. Made with cut nails, this wall box may have been used for matches sale or candles in a farmhouse kitchen. The woman I bought it from said it hung next to the stove in her grandmother's home. Probably French Canadian, due to the fleur de lis decoration, a symbol of France. Measures 9 inches wide by 6 inches high by 2.5 inches deep. Beautiful honest wear on the inside of the box where color is darkened. In very good antique condition with a tight split down the center back and a bit of a gap on one side of the back where a nail has popped a bit. Sturdy and in no danger of breaking. Lovely primitive kitchen decor.
