Ametrine is a combination of the quartz gems amethyst and citrine grown side by sale side, just as the name "ametrine" is a combination of the words "amethyst" and "citrine." It can be found with distinct color separation between the purple and yellow/orange, but it can also be found with the two colors blended together, fading softly from one to the other. Most ametrine is currently mined in South America, though some is being produced in India.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February, and citrine is one of three birthstones of November. It can also represent Pisces and Cancer.
