Klavdia Ivanovna Shulzhenko (1906, Kharkov, Russian Empire - 1984, Moscow, USSR) - Russian Soviet pop singer, actress. People's Artist of the USSR (1971).
Born on March 11 (24), 1906 in Kharkov
She began performing folk songs from the end of the 1910s. She studied musical notation and singing privately with the professor of the Kharkov Conservatory NL Chemezov [4]. In 1923 she became an artist of the Kharkov Drama Theater under the direction of N. N. Sinelnikov.
In May 1928, she made her singing debut at the Mariinsky Theater in Leningrad.
In October 1931, at the Leningrad Music Hall, she played a role in the play, the music for which was written by Dmitry Shostakovich, and Isaac Dunaevsky was at the conductor's stand.
The jazz orchestra created in January sale 1940 in Leningrad under the direction of Klavdia Shulzhenko and her husband Vladimir Coralli became very popular and existed until the summer of 1945. The songs "Do not speak of love", "Dove" and others were performed.
