Butterflies and Poppies was designed with the English countryside fields in mind.
The cotswolds are particularly beautiful in the autumn with all its changing colours, the poppies that grow freely with the only disturbance being the butterflies that comes and goes with the wind.
I begin the design process for my scarves by painting the individual motives by hand in watercolour, and then scanning these into Illustrator software to replicate across the whole design and add simpler elements such as lines and background colours. The design is then digitally printed on to luxurious silk twill (100% silk), and the hem is hand rolled and stitched.
The scarf is a fairly generous sized neck scarf, measuring 35" x 35" (about 90cm x 90cm). While I make sure that there are no creases before I carefully fold for shipping, some may develop in transit, but these can be ironed out on a warm setting with no steam, or will smooth out with time and use in any case.
