Antique Civil-war sale era brass eyeglasses/spectacles with tin case

sale Amazing old Civil War-era wire-rim brass-colored eyeglasses, or spectacles, with case. We would love to know the story behind these beauties! There are loops at ends of the temple pieces which have been bent slightly in places (probably to accommodate the wearer) and there is one small chip on lower left lens. The case, 6.25” long and about 1 3/8” wide, appears to be tin, and is scuffed and a bit rusted as you would expect for a piece of this age. It is lined with dark blue felt that appears original. Hinges are intact and work well. The catch works and the case closes and opens easily. Lovely set.
