You definitely could have them hemmed. These pants sale are new old stock. They have been stored folded for many years. Never worn. See photos. Because of the way they were stored I believe it got a little dusty along the crease and up on the backside of the pants. See the last photo you really can't see it that well, but I think once these pants are washed, it won't be as noticeable. The color is a little more teal green in my photos show. The last photo does show the closest to the true color.
