Antique 19th Century ADJUSTABLE VICTORIAN TRIVET, Original English sale Fireside Accessory, Extendable Wrought-iron Brass Stand For Kettle or Pan

Very rare to find and especially in such remarkable condition.

SUPERB MID-19th-CENTURY ANTIQUE ENGLISH VICTORIAN ADJUSTABLE & EXTENDABLE IRON AND PIERCED-BRASS FIRESIDE KETTLE STAND

Made circa 1850 and originally used to boil the kettle or pan over an open fire. The wrought-iron frame is designed to hook over the bars of the fire grate or kitchen range. See photo number 5.

The pot or kettle is then placed on the ornate brass Trivet which can be pulled forward or back with the large brass ring-pull mechanism. This determines whether more heat or less is required.

Often the Trivet and kettle would stand by the fire to guarantee a good cup of tea at any time of day or night.

It is robust and strong and can stand free without support on its straight horizontal frame enabling you to place anything you wish on top such as books, plants, tea tray etc. Or sale it can stand-alone to provide an authentic Victorian focal point by your own fireside.

Measures 13" or 32.5cms long and 5" or 12.5cms tall. The brass Trivet measures 7.5" or 19cms by 8.5" or 21cms to include the ring-pull.
