The Dolls' Journey
by Ellen and Adam Fischer
Published by Desmond Harmsworth, London in 1932
Believed to be a First Edition although this isn't explicitly stated

Heavy hardback book with pictorial covers and green fabric spine - no dust jacket - unpaginated - features 39 black and white photographs with accompanying text
Dimensions approx. 8 3/4" x 11 1/2" or approx. 22.5 cm x 29.5 cm

A charmingly illustrated children's story book with black and white photos by the Danish sculptor Adam Fischer. It features his daughter Tora's dolls, teddies and various other soft toys - including elephants and monkeys. Intended for young children as it has a very limited use of text. Will interest vintage doll and toy collectors as well as collectors of children's books.

In reasonably good condition overall. with a few flaws. Some wear and tear/discolouration to cover. Numerous foxing spots to cover (primarily along outer edges). Dent to top edge of back cover. Considerable discolouration/fading to spine, with some crushing and small tears to top of spine. Wear to corners. Binding is fragile. Front hinge has cracked considerably (at the bottom - see photo). There is further cracking in four places internally, exposing the webbing (I have photographed the worst example) but the binding is still holding tight overall (back hinge is more sturdy). Large tear along spine edge of one page (from top of spine to around half way down - see photo). Tanning to internal pages (most noticeably to edges of cover linings and endpapers - see photo for an example). Inscription at front of book, opposite the first photograph (dated Christmas 1932). Small edge tear to one page (page featuring knitted doll - see photo). A few handling marks here and there as well as some foxing, primarily to external page edges. General age discolouration/tanning throughout. But otherwise good. Internal pages are good on the whole with no major stains and no annotations.
