A set of 3 iconic French vintage Apilco white bowls - larger than the usual sale soup bowls - with the classic lions head handles, probably made in the 1970s. These footed bowls could be used as serving bowls for salad, fruit, soup etc. The simple, elegant Bistro-ware design was created for Apilco by Yves Deshoulieres in the 1930's. The range was designed to be fired at a higher temperature than usual, making it hard-wearing and more resistant to chipping and cracking. It's popularity has meant that it has been produced over many decades. These are in very good condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. Each bowl is 12.5cms (just under 5”) high and measures 15cms (just under 6”) across the top excluding the handles. Very French, classic and useful bowls. This is heavy, beautiful porcelain.
