This is the ONLY cat in the Redware estate collection I purchased that is Signed with the manufacturer name Shafford on the bottom. The cat also has Boston, MA on it's back. John Pride, who lived in Salem, MA is the first American Redware Potter in America! The stamp does say Japan but it's very coincidental that a potter lived very close to the city that is on the back of the cat sale. In good used condition!.
