HAND SCULPTED, EDGE GRAIN: CUTTING BOARD / CHEESE BOARD / CHARCUTERIE BOARD

Thank you for looking at my edge-grain cutting board! I sculpted the front edge of this board to give an excellent presentation edge. The ends of this board are contoured arcs and its size makes it a great cheese board, or charcuterie as well as cutting board.

I hand-make all my work in my Pacific, MO shop using sustainable local lumber and responsibly sourced CITES certified exotics, which are adhered with FDA approved glue. Finished with a food grade Mineral oil and Beeswax blend saturated into the wood, they will give you many years of use with regular treatment and care (treatment is simple and instructions are included with board.) I do not apply Polyurethane or shellac to my boards because they seal the wood and I believe prevent the wood from preventing bacterial growth in it's most natural way as well as creating a harsh surface that will dull your knives. So to make it butter smooth I sand to 400grit and wet it down, raising the grain. Then it is sanded lightly with 500grit to remove the fuzz. It will arrive to you wrapped in butcher paper and bubble wrap.

My goal when making the boards is to create a kitchen fixture that is meant to remain on your counter top; something you would want to see and is ready for use, instead of a block of wood sale too heavy to pull out and use: A functional piece of art. Some of my patterns seem random, some obviously drawn and planned, but all use carefully selected pieces placed accurately to achieve the right look and pattern. Each board is unique and can never truly be reproduced. . However if this board won't work for you, but you like the style and know the size you want, we can work together to create something suitable for your need that works with your existing counter top and cabinet colors.
