I have been painting for about 12 years. I'm self taught, and began selling my creations on EBAY. I quickly gained a following, and could not keep up with the pace of the demand for my pieces. It was invigorating having so many people follow me, and bid up the pieces to prices I couldn't even believe. I was soon discovered by several galleries, and decided to leave EBAY to pursue fame and fortune. And this is where the fairy tale ends....What I loved about EBAY was the autonomy to do what I wanted when I wanted. I did not have to set prices, or deal with anyone except myself. I was free to be an anonymous painter, because I was secretly doing it on the side while working full time and raising a family. Only my husband and a few close friends knew what I was doing. It was a creative outlet and stress release for me. It's where I figured stuff out. As soon as I entered gallery land, things changed. I was under deadlines, I had to paint what they wanted, I had to give up a huge cut of my profits on overpriced pieces and fight to get paid. Many times the gallery would lose my work or worse, never return it. Some would go out of business and claim they couldn't afford to pay me or ship my work back to me. But worse than all of that, I stopped creating for myself when I began to create for the money...and so I stopped. It was during this time I learned about Etsy, and decided to “store” my paintings on line while I went on with my life. And this is where I have been ever since. I have sold almost 1000 paintings here in 16 different countries. Etsy...my store for paintings I paint for myself when I feel like it, and put on line to share with others when I get around to listing them. I don't do it for the money...I never will...that's my story. Welcome to my virtual storage unit. I love to paint, and I love the freedom of creating on my own terms...
