Sale Vintage Italian Hand Painted Majolica Double Serving Tray with Loop Handle A.F.M. 594 A

This charming hand painted Italian serving tray is comprised of two 6.625" diameter bowls sale which are connected to each other. The bowls have a shallow shell-like form with scalloped edges. There is an arched angular handle at the center, making it easy to move the serving tray from place to place. The underside of the tray is finished with six knob-like feet which elevate it from the surface on which it is displayed.

The surfaces of the bowls are decorated with colorful stylized flowers executed in rust, yellow, blue and green along with green foliage. The decoration also includes scrolls and drapery motifs. The top edge of the handle bears a series of rust stripes on a yellow ground while the sides bear black linear decoration with large black circles on a green ground.

The handled dish is in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The piece measures 14" in length and stands 5.75" tall as measured to the highest point of the handle. The two shell shaped bowls are generously sized to accommodate a large number of treats, and measure 6.625" in diameter. The rim of the bowls stand 1.625" from the surface on which the tray is displayed. The glazed foot of the piece is hand painted "MADE IN ITALY" along with "A.F.M." and "594 A". The piece weighs in at 1lb 10oz.

This hand painted divided dish displays beautifully and would be great addition to an existing collection of Italian majolica, or also functions well as a stand alone decorative accent. A lovely and useful vintage find!
