Japan Hichozan Shinpo-sei 1890 sale large platter with steamer top. 13.5" in diameter.

Japan Hichozan Shinpo sei large serving platter with the steamer insert. It was an Arita high-end export item at the end of the 1800s. The platter is 13.5" in diameter. The steamer plate is matching but a hard fit and there is no groove to anchor it on the platter. The decoration consists of ornamental vignettes on a typical Hichozan red border. Delicate orange floating fish decorate the well of the platter. The item is in very good condition, no chips, some wear on the decoration, highlighted in the pictures.
