Vintage 1900s Compact Dance Compact Double Compact Powder Rouge and Mirror Compact sale Victorian Edwardian Silver Tone Very Good Condition

This item is an early 1900s Victorian / Edwardian Dance Compact with Powder Rouge and Mirror sale in Very Good Condition. On the outside, both top and bottom have the same engine turned design of vertical stripes with a repousse outer frame of flowers, leaves and vines. The oval cartouches on both sides are engraved in Olde English letters; and interestingly they are engraved with different letters. Apparently they are the initials of the giver and the receiver of this pentagon shaped compact. The sides are a shiny silver tone finish. Inside, the upper section houses the quarter-moon glass mirror and the rouge plate which has residual amounts of rouge remaining. The lower section houses the solid powder plate with residual amounts of powder and a clean puff. Overall, this compact is in very good condition for its age. There are no nicks, dents, dings, rust or corrosion anywhere. There is some very light age related scuffing on the top and bottom. The glass mirror has some mild haze, but no silver loss. The mirror is slightly loose, but stays within its frame. Otherwise, this compact would be in excellent condition. It measures approximately 2 1/8 inches in diameter by 3/8 inch thick. The attached and hinged wrist chain is 9 inches in total length. There are no hallmarks indicating maker or origin.

This Victorian/Edwardian crossover dance compact would make a very attractive addition to someone's collection of early 1900s lady's vanity items, an attractive display piece, or a thoughtful gift to a collector.
