A Lovely 1940s Mid-Century Wall sale Plate by Swiss Ceramist Burkart

A Very Lovely Mid-Century Wall Plate by Burkart, Swiss Ceramist Studio. A wonderful hand painted detailed piece, with Country Folk Dancing; a floral wreath frames the couple.

In 1865 Stephan Burkart established a pottery in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. With the help of his sons Adolf and Otto, the Pottery quickly developed into a thriving business. The main focus of the business was creating high quality distinct products. Burkart won gold medal in 1896 in Geneva and in 1914 in Berne at the national exhibition for their products. To this day, Burkart is especially well known for their beautiful wall plates, but also for their household products.

The plate is signed at the back with 'Burkhart Handarbeit Folk 6'.
This signature indicates that the item was made around 1940 (www.antik-und-rar.ch/burkart-kreuzlingen)

There are also two holes at the back of the plate with a wire to hang it up.

Condition: The plate is in great vintage condition, no cracks or chips or any other damage.
