Winkle Terra Cotta Company 1904 worlds fair trinket dish or fountain tile sample. I'm not sure what this item was but they did have a display at the 1904 worlds fair. I also found the face on a fountain in an old catalog. See last picture. Very rare piece! sale The winkle terra cotta co began in 1883 Among the many important structures in which the Winkle terra cotta products have been used are the City Hall, Milwaukee, Wis.; Fort Dearborn Bldg., Chicago; Hellman Bldg., Los Angeles, Cal.; the High School, Detroit, Mich.; The Antlers Hotel, Colorado Springs, Colo.; the Wabash Passenger Depot, Decatur, Ill.; Alaska Bldg., Seattle. In St. Louis may be mentioned the Missouri Trust, Lincoln Trust, Wainwright, Carlton, Frisco, St. Louis Star, Chemical, and Kennard Bldgs. The only items I can find sold by this company are at high end auction houses. I found a stove tile that sold for $400. The last picture is a recently sold item by winkle company.
