Sale 1904 memorial hairwork - Large but odd piece - Edwardian DIY

Memento mori, artwork made of human hair as a memorial for loved ones.

Made in 1904, this piece remembers Celestine. Who died at the age of 80.

Beautiful details in the back as well at the front. It is quite an odd piece, the glass has been lost sale over the years, however no damage was done to the little hairs.

This piece is an odd one and may even be an Edwarian DIY project. The writing on the back is in French, I will try and decipher it later.

These days this would be quite odd, maybe even a bit creepy. I think it's quite romantic as well.
