Blue and white tin glazed earthenware plate made by the De Porceleyne Fles factory, Delft, c. 1919. It commemorates the cancellation of the Netherlands Overseas Trust Company, a clearing house for imported contraband goods set up during World War One in order to avoid conflict between the Netherlands and the allies. The initials of the company's board, chaired by Van Aalst, are recorded in the border. Decorated with a caduceus flanked by laurel and oak branches.
