Product code: Handmade Charcuterie Board | Personalized Engraved Gift sale | Exotic Hardwood Cutting Board | Cheese Serving Tray | Wedding Gift | Hosting

This beautiful hardwood charcuterie board will delight you or the loved one that receives it as a gift, complete with an optional laser engraved personalization to commemorate a wedding, an anniversary, a birthday, a person, or an idea.

I design and build these as "functional art"; a useful and beautiful conversation piece. The aesthetic of this particular board is understated; pair it with brightly colored backgrounds and toppings.

If this style does not suit you, please browse my other board listings:

Utility-wise, these are face and edge-grained charcuterie boards...think of them as a light duty cutting board for slicing and presenting cheeses, fruits, etc...these are not for daily abuse with a meat cleaver or chopping knife...I can prepare thicker edge and end-grain cutting boards for that purpose.

The Details:

Dimensions are 10 x 16 x 3/4" with a double-bevelled edge, giving a light-weight look and feel. Sanded to 320 grit and finished with a food-safe classic of mineral oil and beeswax "board butter", providing a protected surface that is silky to the touch. A small tin of board butter is included to periodically refresh the look and feel of your board.

For an even more durable protection, consider the upgrade to a food-safe tung oil finish by adding this listing to your cart: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1296670400/tung-oil-finish. Please note the details within that listing before deciding on the upgraded finish, especially with regard to production schedule if your order is time sensitive.

Your Etsy search provided you with many (probably less expensive) options...why choose this one?

1) You want a truly handmade gift. Do all your top search results look similar to each other?...they are. If your seller has thousands of sales for personalized boards, they might be bulk ordering cheap boards pre-made overseas and spending only a few minutes laser engraving your board to make it "just for you". Boring woods, boring designs, and very ordinary results.

I go personally to my local hardwood dealer to hand-pick sustainably sourced lumber with the most beautiful coloration and grain patterns. In my home shop, I cut this wood into thin strips on my table saw (which I also built from scratch, see my shop profile), and then spend an embarrassing amount of time arranging these strips into a pleasing pattern. My thought and effort should at least match what you've put into this purchase...you're paying me so that's how it should be, and that's simply not true of many other sellers.

2) You want a truly unique gift. I use a variety of sustainably sourced hardwoods in my designs, thus giving looks beyond the usual "walnut or maple" offerings that are so common. There are no dyes, stains, or additives here; sale that purple wood is actually that purple.

My designs often feature wider pieces of face grain paired with thin accent strips to form elements of local symmetry (matching face grains, repeated stripe patterns), but the pattern across the entire board is intentionally asymmetric: just rotate the board or put the meat and cheese in a different spot and it's like you have many boards in one!

Here we have wide strips of "bookmatched" sapele (the grain patterns mirror each other on adjacent pieces) streaked through with bright maple, dark walnut, and a few slivers of purpleheart.

3) You want a gorgeously presented gift. I don't just toss your item in a box; the box itself is part of the experience. Ribbons, air-brushed logos, color changing inks...my goal is to delight from step 1 (or maybe step 2: your board is double boxed for protection, and the outer box will be the standard underwhelming cardboard container)

The Fine Print:

The board you receive will be made to order...it is not the board shown in the listing photos, though I will bring the same exacting standards and eye for design to the construction of your board: it will be well made, beautiful, and unique. The color and striping pattern will be broadly similar with some variations in grain pattern and color tint (purpleheart is always purply but the undertones vary).

Size-wise, the quoted length and width will match within 1/2" and the thickness will be within 1/8"...some variability arises during construction.

Treat this board well...hand-wash only and promptly dry; an extended soak or a trip through the dishwasher would cause damage. A tin of board butter is included and can be used periodically to refresh the look and protection of the surface.
