Vintage Metropolitan Museum of Arts Onyx Ring, MMA Sterling Silver Bishop's sale Ring, Size 7

This Vintage Onyx Bishop's Ring is fabulous! The ring is in silver and is a match to a another ring made in gold that is based on an original French 13th century ring and was sold by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Shown (but not included with this ring) is the original paperwork from the Met giving the background story on the gold ring. How special! Traditionally Bishop rings hold amethysts but sale that is not a hard and fast rule. This ring holds one prong set black onyx in a cabachon oval shape. The bottom of the ring is marked MMA RMN 925 Sterling. The stone measures approximately 12 x 16 mm and the ring has a rise of approximately 12.5 mm. The ring is in good vintage condition and is ready to be worn and enjoyed. This stunning ring with a great story behind it would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
