A lovely set of 8 French vintage ironstone side plates in blue and white earthenware, with a scalloped border and a country style design of a church scene with a floral border. Made by renowned faienceries Digoin, Sarreguemines France c 1950-1970. In excellent usable condition.

This beautiful model of plate is made in fine earthenware, known in France as terre de fer ("iron earth"), with blue transferware on a crisp white paste. The charming design features an idyllic scene of a country church along with a lovely floral border decoration. A subtly scalloped edge provides an additional subtle detail to further elevate this classic design.

Condition is excellent vintage condition - no cracks or visible chips, one plate has a few shallow chips / scrapes from the foot rim, not visible on display. Otherwise, very light signs of use including a few light scratches / scrapes. Minimal crazing, crisp color with no discoloration or stains. In great condition for age of 50+ years. Marked on the base for Sarreguemines France with a mark in use between 1945-1979.
