A Madhubani Painting of Mother Goddess Durga created in authentic `kachni` style, which is a unique style of filling design with intricate patterns. The painting is made on A4 size (21x29.7cm) thick paper (300gsm), and acrylic paint is used to sketch as well as fill the background.
If you like authenticity and rawness for selecting your folk art, then it will sound great that this painting is created freehand with a calligraphy nib, and was dipped multiple times in black paint to sketch the design. I added my flavor to it by adding a splash of orange in the background to enhance the look.
Madhubani or Mithila Painting is a famous Indian Folk Art style from Bihar. It is believed to be 2500 years old. It is believed that it originated in the kingdom of Mithila (Northern Bihar and Nepal), during the reign of King Janak (from the famous Indian Mythology Ramayana), and hence is also named as Mithila Painting. It is believed that during the wedding of Lord Rama and Sita (daughter of King Janak), the entire town was painted and walls were decorated and adorned with this beautiful art. Ever since, the tradition continued and the women in the Northern Bihar decorated the walls of their houses by painting them with intricate patterns during religious ceremonies or weddings.
