Hard to find, large crossbody or shoulder bag made by Halson, likely dyed black calf hair and leather.
Roy Halston Frowick, known worldwide as simply Halston, was one of the most influential American designers of the 20th century. The designer and his gang of models and celebrity friends were fixtures on the New York City party scene of the '70s and '80s, especially at the famous Studio 54.
The bag appears to be leather but is not marked as so. It is covered with calf hair on both sides, meeting at a point and fans up for a unique design detail at the bottom. Most likely dyed black, there is a maroon shade underneath in the light. Large zipper opening with the "H" hang tag on the pull. Inside is lined with more of a smooth black vinyl-like material (possibly leather?-unsure!) with interior zipper pocket. "Halston" label on the interior pocket. Amazing 80s designer purse!
Good vintage condition; there are some signs of wear on shoulder strap and in a few spots on the sides. Hair on hide is quite fragile, there are a few sale areas near the sides that show a little of the hide part (not particularly noticeable). The Halston label is losing it's stickiness on one edge.
