Our BYERS' CHOICE MAN WITH MANDOLIN is part of the CHRISTMAS WAITS series. Originally, “WAITS” referred to Medieval watchmen who patrolled the streets at night calling out the hour and, occasionally, bestowing blessings on the homeowners. Later this term applied to hired musicians who played at civic events, private parties and weddings. At Christmastime, these paid pipers strolled through the town playing holiday songs in exchange for small treats. By the end of the 18th century, however, most cities no longer hired official Waits and the name came to denote any caroler at Christmas.
Our WAIT is handsomely dressed in a very long, bright red coat sale with a wide collar, a multicolored, plaid scarf, black pants and a light beige cap. He has brown hair and a brown moustache. This musician's particular instrument is a mandolin which he holds in both arms. Our attractive WAIT is in fine, vintage condition with no issues. He has retained his original WAITS hangtag.
