RARE, VINTAGE MEXICAN ART TILE DISHES
This vintage set of mini art tiles was made by a Mexican company that was located in Ladrillera Monterrey, S.A., and has become known as "Lamosa" by collectors. Lamosa employed artists who were familiar with San Jose Potteries in Texas, and some of them had worked there, and brought with them the same artistic style and color pallette that San Jose Potteries used on many of their pottery pieces and tiles.
The art tile dishes depict a Mexican man and woman. The hand painted tiles are vibrant and very detailed. The tiles have a satin finish and are signed in the lower left corner. The tiles have been made into a dish with a tin beveled edge and four rounded feet.
We purchased this tile at an Estate Sale where we were advised that it dates back to the 1930s-1940s.
The tile base measures approximately 1½” square while the top opening measures 2 ¾” square by 1"tall.
The pieces sale are in lovely condition with the expected wear for its age including patina.
Please refer to photos for more detailed condition. They are part of the description.
