This box is a lovely reproduction of a colonial style tea or jewelry box, copied from an English piece made about 1760 and can hold jewelry, trinkets, tea, tobacco, etc. This box contains more than 25 hand-assembled parts. Rectangular mahogany wood body with polished finish, key lock, and bright brass accents. Foil lined to help preserve the sale moisture of the contents. The box's dimensions are approximately 10”W x 6”D x 6”H. Hallmarked “Williamsburg Restoration” surrounding “4 CW XX” and “VM”, which is the hallmark for Virginia Metalcrafters. Key is NOT included but the lock catch plate is unattached but included. It's a L shaped piece of brass with a hole to engage the lock. The holes and mortise for the plate are there, it just needs screws or pins. There are some chips, dents, and scratches in the finish and on the body of the box, foil lining is in good condition with light rub wear marks, - see photos for details. The metal is bright with just a little freckling of the finish.
