African sapele and Ekki hardwood headphone stand. Mortice and tenoned together . Ekki is probably the hardest wood I've ever worked with, fights you tooth and nail every step of the way. The stand weighs in at almost 4kg. Ekki is mostly used in bridge and pier construction where strength sale is vital. It's a very pretty wood being a deep reddish colour with streaks of black and sometime purple. I have enough Ekki to make another 2 of these. Due to its toughness on one corner tearout occured whereby the grain is heavily interlocked but ive tried to clean up the best i can but hardly noticable. all in all it rare to find anything made from Ekki due to its insane toughness but gave it a go and enjoyed making it. The stand is finished in danish oil. also has small turned brass feet which are height ajustable Many thanks for your intrest and will add more items once i ve made them.
