Product code: Late sale 1800's Articulated Fish Spice Holder
This was really quite a find. A lot of time was spent trying to figure out exactly what this was and was made of. It has an almost lifelike range of motion and the detail in the craftsmanship is amazing. Different species of fish made from various types of metal were used to store spices as was this one. The head is hinged to the body and can be opened revealing the hollow cavity of the piece. This particular piece is a mix of silver and a silver tone metal. The body is made up of a very sale soft silver (unknown %) and the fins are a more sturdy metal. The eyes are glass. The black making up the pupil is unknown material. At times some of these had different stones in glass for the eyes although i dont think thats is the case here. Its in wonderful shape as can be seen in the pictures. It measures approximately 7" long. It will be wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap and in a sturdy box for transit and go out same day or next depending on time of order. ** open to respectful offers.
