Antique CJO Judd single elephant sale bronze bookend, Asian elephant, palm trees, single bookend, small bookend, elephant sculpture, made in USA
The level of detail on this beautiful CJO Judd single bookend is amazing! The elephant is swinging his head a bit, as he approaches an opening in the palm trees and heavy overgrowth. He has all his parts.
The ground that he stands on is highly textured, and has a deep, glossy bronze finish. The trees are very textured and have a dark green patina. The sale elephant's hide is textured and his tusks are smooth lighter colored brass. It's an awesome piece!
There is a monogram stamped on the back: c J. s and below, the number 9687. This refers to the Judd Company, a foundry that dates back to the 19th Century in Connecticut. The solid base is covered with green felt, to protect your surfaces.
4 1/2" tall X 4 1/2" wide X 4 1/2" deep. The elephant is just 2 1/2" tall and 3 7/8" long from tusk to tail.
It weighs just under 3 lbs.
Very good vintage condition.
