The Seward House is located in Mt. Olive, New Jersey. At the time I painted this, the house was in a very badly decayed condition. This painting is very tightly focused on just part of the structure, the upper section of the old sale stone farmhouse. Since completing this painting, an historical society has undertaken its restoration. The painting is done on a handmade heavyweight watercolor paper, and so it has a lot of texture.
